The sensor bar basically emits infrared light that is detected by the wii remote so that it knows where you are pointing it in relation to where the tv is. I&#039;m not completely sure what you mean by a wired remote.

If you mean attachments to the wiimote like a classic controller, yes it&#039;ll be fine, it doesn&#039;t use the wii&#039;s IR. 

If you mean a gamecube controller, yes it&#039;ll be fine, it doesn&#039;t need a sensor bar at all. 

You don&#039;t need to buy new remotes.</description>
