In order to play a gamecube game you need to have the sensor bar in order to select the disc channel. Sorry.
However, you can probably buy one at a store
you can probably play gamecube games without it but I suggest you find it
yea just hook everything up as if the wii console was a gamecube
If you intend to use the Wii remote to select the game then yes.
Yes, because you have to select the disc channel.
Sometimes a gamecube controller can act as a cursor
yes of course, You can hiden everything on your decorative box

You need a sensor bar to select the disc channel unless you have a classic controller which you plug in to start the game then use your GameCube controller. Otherwise you do need your sensor bar.
Yes because without the wii sensor bar, you can not select the disc channel screen. You must have the wii remote & the wii sensor bar before you can play any gamecube games. Without the wii sensor bar, you won’t be able to use the wii remote to point to the t.v. to select the disc channel. There is no other way. So If I were you i would find that sensor bar, or no playing gamecube and wii games for you!
If you have a Guitar Hero Guitar or a Classic Controller, you can use the analog stick to move the cursor onscreen to start your Gamecube game. Without those, yes, you do need the Sensor Bar.
Or you could replace your Sensor Bar with any variety of other infrared emitting objects, like a pair of long-stem candles.
